About LynnMatch

A calmer way to find a counsellor or therapist

LynnMatch was created to make finding a counsellor or therapist feel clearer, calmer, and less overwhelming.

When someone needs support, the first step should not feel like another thing they have to survive. But for many people, searching for the right counsellor or therapist can quickly become confusing.

You open a directory, type in what you need, and suddenly you are faced with hundreds of profiles. Sometimes even more.

Every profile may look helpful. Many of those counsellors and therapists may be excellent. But that does not mean every person will be the right fit for you, your situation, your budget, your location, or the kind of support you need.

LynnMatch is here to make that first step feel less like searching alone.

Instead of asking you to scroll through endless profiles and guess who might understand you, Lynn guides you through a few simple questions and helps create a shortlist of counsellors or therapists who may be a good fit.

Why I built LynnMatch

I'm Benn, the founder of LynnMatch.

I created LynnMatch after trying to find mental health support for people I love.

What I thought would be a simple search quickly became overwhelming. I was faced with page after page of counsellors and therapists, and in some cases, hundreds of options. The more I searched, the harder it became to know who might actually be right.

And when someone you love needs support, you are not just browsing.

You are trying to make a good decision at a difficult moment. You want to help. You want to get it right. And you know that if the first experience does not feel right, they may not want to try again.

That pressure stayed with me.

I also realised that many directory-style websites are built around visibility, promotion, or paid placement. The people at the top are not always there because they are the best fit for your situation. Sometimes they are there because they have paid to be more visible.

That did not sit right with me.

I wanted a calmer, more guided way to help people find suitable counsellors and therapistswithout leaving them to search alone.

That is why LynnMatch exists.

A shortlist, not hundreds of profiles

LynnMatch is not trying to give people the biggest possible list.

The aim is to help people get a more useful shortlist.

Lynn asks simple questions about what someone is looking for, what matters to them, and how they would prefer to be supported. That information helps suggest counsellors or therapists who may be more relevant to their situation.

It is still important for each person to use their own judgement, read profiles carefully, and speak directly with a counsellor or therapist before starting work together.

But LynnMatch is designed to make that first step feel clearer.

Less scrolling.
Less guessing.
More guidance.

Built around fit, not paid ranking

LynnMatch does not sell paid ranking boosts.

Counsellors and therapists are not pushed higher because they pay more. Matching is based on fit, including the type of support someone is looking for, format, location, budget, availability, preferences, and profile relevance.

There are many incredible counsellors, therapists, and psychotherapists across the UK.

But not every practitioner will be right for every person.

LynnMatch is being built to help people find support that feels more relevant to them, rather than simply showing whoever appears first in a long list.

For counsellors and therapists

LynnMatch is also being built with counsellors and therapists in mind.

I do not want this to become another expensive directory where practitioners pay every month just to sit on a list and hope someone finds them.

For UK practitioners, LynnMatch has no joining fee and no monthly subscription. You can receive and preview introduction requests for free. A fee is only added when you choose to accept and unlock a client introduction.

The early UK launch is intentionally small.

I want to work with a small number of founding counsellors and therapists first, listen to feedback, and improve the process before opening more widely.

If you are one of the early practitioners helping shape LynnMatch, your feedback matters. It helps make the service clearer, fairer, and better for the counsellors and therapists who join after you.

Why the name LynnMatch?

LynnMatch is named after Lynn, my mom.

She was one of the most important people in my life. I lost her earlier this year, and she had been there through every up and down.

When I thought about what this service was meant to do — help someone feel less alone, make a hard moment feel a little clearer, and support people in finding the right help — I could not think of a better name.

LynnMatch is not trying to replace therapy, counsellors and therapists, or human judgement.

It is simply here to make the first step easier.

Starting carefully in the UK

LynnMatch is starting with a small UK launch.

That is deliberate.

Before growing too quickly, the focus is on getting the basics right: clear practitioner profiles, fair pricing, careful matching, honest wording, and a process that feels safe and understandable for both clients and therapists.

This is not about rushing to become the biggest directory.

It is about building something useful, trustworthy, and human from the start.

Important note

LynnMatch is a guided matching and introduction service.

It does not provide therapy, counselling, diagnosis, medical advice, emergency support, or crisis care. Any therapy or counselling is provided directly by the counsellor or therapist, not by LynnMatch.

If you are in immediate danger, call 999. If you need urgent emotional support in the UK, Samaritans are available on 116 123.
